Jordan Peterson is an atheist. Or at least he was. Peterson also went away for a bit to deal with ... demons? I don't mean feminists, Marxists, and other leftists. Demons of the drug kind. Peterson had some health issues that led to an issue with opioids. All things the author has spoken out about in the past.
On a recent podcast with YouTuber Jonathan Pageau, Peterson started to talk about Christianity and the "myth" of Jesus Christ. He didn't sound very atheist'y while discussing it. In fact, Peterson got very choked up.

"I'm amazed at my own belief and I don't understand it. I've seen sometimes the objective world and the narrative world touch. ... I've seen that many times in my own life. And so in some sense, I believe it's undeniable, you know? We have a narrative sense of the world. For me, that's been the world of morality. That's the world that tells us how to act. It's real. We treat it like it's real. It's not the objective world. But the narrative and the objective world touch. And the ultimate example of that, in principle, is supposed to be Christ...."
Peterson went on to say he still doesn't know what to make of it, partially because he feels it's "too terrifying" a reality to fully believe. "I don't even know what would happen to you if you fully believed it."
Personally, I've always considered myself an agnostic. Not someone who even pretends to understand anything dealing with religion. I don't know if Peterson has been thinking these things for a while and it just came out in this podcast, or if he was just talking off the top of his head and as he found the words, the emotion came over him. But it was powerful to watch.
Wherever these new things and ideas lead Jordan Peterson, I'm just happy to have him back.
